13 Dec 2018 : Trafford at home in Integro League Cup quarter-final

09 Dec 2018 : Round-up of recent comings and goings

Runcorn Linnets manager Michael Ellison has praised the all-round impact made by Connor McCarthy (pictured) during his brief but successful stint at The Millbank Linnets Stadium.

Connor won the club's October Player of the Month award and quickly became a favourite with the fans.

However, the one-time National League striker has now stepped back up a division by joining Warrington Town in The EVO-STIK Premier.

Ello said: "Connor has left us to go to Warrington. We're sorry to see him go but understand his reasons why, with the lure of Premier football.

"He's been a breath of fresh air on and off the pitch and it's been a pleasure to work with him over these last couple of months. We wish him all the best with his new challenge at Warrington, who I have to say have conducted themselves superbly and went about things in the right way."

Meanwhile, the Linnets have welcomed into the fold Runcorn lad Ryan Gibson, whose second successive appearance as sub reaped its rewards - with his stoppage-time equaliser against Glossop NE on home debut.

The player arrives from Chester and Wirral League club Helsby FC, scoring six goals for them in two Cheshire Amateur Cup ties this season.

Ello said: "Ryan has recently got back into playing football locally. He's a good lad with pace to burn and an eye for goal. We got him over the line last Saturday morning (before the Ramsbottom game).

"We've only one striker at the club at the minute so that's something we know we need to improve but are finding it very difficult to do so."

Also new to the squad is goalkeeper Tom Scott who likewise made himself an instant hit after his two saves in the penalty shootout success at Hyde United.

The win steered the Linnets into the Integro League Cup quarter- finals at the first attempt.

Tom has played for Kendal Town and Northwich Vics.

We offer a warm welcome to him and Ryan while saying a fond farewell to Connor.
