19 Oct 2018 : Glossop move ends Mitch's stay at Linnets

Mitch Bryant has left Runcorn Linnets to join EVO-STIK League West rivals Glossop North End.

The well-travelled striker made 30 appearances (including 10 starts) for the Linnets overall, scoring six goals, but had only two outings this season after suffering a back injury early in the campaign.

He links up again with newly-appointed GNE joint managers Peter Band and Lloyd Morrison for whom Mitch played during his days at Mossley.

We thank Mitch for his service to the club and wish him well.

12 Oct 2018 : Callum Lucy makes Linnets return

Runcorn Linnets have re-signed former Tranmere Rovers midfielder, Callum Lucy.

The midfielder made a spectacular arrival onto the Millbank Linnets Stadium scene with a stunning 40-yard goal in the club's 2017 pre-season friendly against Eagle Sports.

Although just the highlight of an excellent all round display from the youngster, it was a finish which certainly made the club's fans sit up and take notice.

Callum had been freed by Tranmere at the end of 2016-17, the last of his five first-team appearances (and his first in the National League) having come in the club's 1-0 victory at Maidstone United on the final day of that regular season.

He left the Linnets in November 2017, playing for Witton Albion and Skelmerdale United, but has now returned to the fold and is looking to build on his eight appearances and two goals in the Yellow and Green.

Welcome back, Callum!

04 Oct 2018 : Freddie toasts successful September with monthly Bowland Brewery award

Our Bowland Brewery Player of the Month for September is Freddie Potter.

A key member of the Linnets' squad for the best part of four years, Freddie has taken to the EVO-STIK League like a duck to water on his return to the competition.

After coming back from a break in the USA with his new fiancée at the start of the month, Freddie came off the bench at half-time in the match at Colwyn Bay and played a key role in turning the game on its head.

His contribution included a sublime piece of skill to set up the only goal.

A week later, previously unbeaten Colne visited the Millbank Linnets Stadium, and Freddie not only opened the scoring in a 2-0 victory but also clinched the man-of-the-match vote in the regular poll on the Linnets Updates twitter site.

Our only league defeat of the month came against Atherton Collieries but even that couldn't keep the Linnets centre forward quiet.

Freddie's speculative effort from outside the box brought an equalising goal.

A Tuesday night at Mossley would bring about what will forever be known as one of Freddie's best ever moments for the club and without doubt his best ever goal!

With his side trailing, Potter acrobatically converted Connor McCarthy's cross with an overhead kick of the highest quality.

He then slammed home the winning penalty kick deep in added time to round off an exceptional month for the Linnets own Wizard!

Well done and many congratulations, Freddie!
