25 Sep 2018 : Tesco smooths the way for Millbank Linnets Stadium visitors
RUNCORN Linnets fans can check out improvements to the club car park - sponsored and carried out by Tesco.
One of the supermarket chain's key strategies is "every little helps" and as part of this, the company is committed to making a difference in local communities.
Tesco offered to realign the kerb at the entrance to the car park, making access easier for team coaches transporting opposition officials and players to the Millbank Linnets Stadium in Murdishaw, Runcorn.
The work was organised through Sean Gaskill, assistant manager of Runcorn Linnets Blues Under 14s and a member of Tesco's Maintenance Team.
Sean's colleagues Mark Rice and Darren Price completed the three-man team, which carried out the works to the entrance off Stockham Lane over two days.
Thanks to volunteers from The Nest, the junior section kitchen in the clubhouse, the workmen were kept fed and watered.
Linnets chairman, Mike Bignall said: "The car park, which opened last year as part of our new clubhouse development, is used by hundreds of players, fans and parents every week.
"While there has been no problem accessing it by car, we have encountered some difficulties getting visiting team coaches on to the site because of the way the entrance was configured.
"The realignment and resurfacing work carried out has been done to remedy this and we are indebted to Tesco and their Maintenance Team for their much-welcomed support."

20 Sep 2018 : Loan star Niall signs on for a second month
Runcorn Linnets are delighted to have extended the loan agreement with Accrington Stanley for their teenage winger, Niall Watson.
Niall has settled into life at The Millbank Linnets Stadium very quickly and made a good impression in his half dozen appearances so far.
Accrington have now consented to Niall staying with the Linnets for a second month.
The 18-year-old made three first-team appearances for League One club Stanley last season and signed his first professional contract with them this summer.
Linnets manager Michael Ellison said: "Niall's been a pleasure to work with; he's come with a great attitude and work ethic.
"He's got great ability but the main thing is he has improved in every game in the short time he's been with us. I've no doubt that will continue."
