24 Jul 2018 : Club volunteers join First Team Group at Runcorn Linnets
Runcorn Linnets are pleased to announce that Josh Christian and Paul Tandy have accepted invitations to join the First Team Group within our senior section.
Over recent months, we have been developing a new way of working in which the day-to-day running of the senior men's side has been overseen by this committee.
The junior section already had its Executive Committee and the First Team Group was put in place to oversee, on a similar basis, the everyday workings of the men's team.
The Trust Board members directly involved with Runcorn Linnets Ladies are also on the First Team Group and they play a full part in first team activities. Although the women's side is largely self financing, there is close co-operation between officials of the men's and ladies' teams.
In line with our constitution, the Trust Board continues, as the legal entity of the club, to have overall responsibility and ultimate power for the way Runcorn Linnets operates.
As part of this reorganisation within the club, the Board has, however, been meeting less frequently.
As we finetune the new operating system, Trust Board meetings will now move from being held quarterly to six times a year (usually the first Monday of every second month), although there will continue to be scope for extra meetings when required.
It is our wish under the ethos of the fans-owned club to increasingly involve volunteers in daily operations and we have valued helpers with varied skills beavering away behind the scenes seven days a week.
Josh and Paul have shown a willingness and commitment to be involved both on match days and other parts of the week and both expressed interest in becoming more closely involved.
Paul has played the lead role in our 200 Club and will be working to further and firmly establish this as our primary fundraiser while helping with other initiatives to improve income.
Josh has done valuable work in the club bar, on the ground and the match day raffle. He has experience of youth work and part of his remit will be to facilitate engagement by the younger element of our fan base beyond game days.
Josh and Paul join Kel Hoose, also part of our Finance Team, club photographer and graphic designer James Eastup and Trust secretary Dave Bettley who were already First Team Group members, working alongside the appropriate Trust Board members.
We welcome both newcomers and hope they enjoy their new roles.
