26 Jan 2018 : Urkey's £1,000 fundraising triathlon mission in memory of Jarvis

RUNCORN Linnets FC kit manager Jon Urquhart has launched a campaign to raise £1,000 for a charity, which is helping parents to cope with the death of a little one.

Jon will later this year take part in a sprint distance triathlon in memory of a close relative's son and has set up a JustGiving page to support the charity 4Louis, which donates memory boxes for hospitals to give to families in cases of still birth, neo-natal, infant and child loss.

Jon explained: "On 22/1/2016, my amazing cousin Simon, and his lovely wife, Laura were devastated when their beautiful baby boy, Jarvis, was born sleeping.

"As a family we all rallied round and supported Simon and Laura through this tough time, as much as we could.

"This is how I have come to find out about 4Louis and the amazing/wonderful work they do, to help out family's who find themselves in this awful position."

Through the charity's efforts, hospitals throughout the UK are provided with the boxes so grieving parents can find comfort in their memories.

Jon added: "The day we said our goodbyes to Jarvis, Simon told me he was fundraising for this great organisation, by competing in the Great North Run, which he duly completed, and I made a promise that day, that I would one day too raise funds to support the great thing 4Louis does.

"This week was Jarvis' 2nd birthday, and I am now ready (mentally if not yet physically!) to compete in a sprint distance triathlon, in September.

"I have never done a triathlon of any sort before so really don't know what to expect, but I will be giving my all to complete it, in memory of Jarvis.

"Anything you can donate would be fantastic, and even if you are unable to donate, please take a look below and see for yourself the wonderful things 4Louis do...£30 will provide one family with a memory box.

Each memory box contains:

A clay impression kit, to capture an impression of babies hands and feet. Two teddies, one for baby and one for the family. A glass angel in a presentation box A candle, for a special occasion where the family may want to light it. A card, so the family can write a poem or letter to baby. A curl box, for a lock of baby's hair, An inkless wipe kit, to capture imprints of baby's hands and feet. A CD to keep baby's photographs safe A copy of a 'Guess How Much I Love You' book

Jarvis was posthumously named as the match ball sponsor for our recent home game against Charnock Richard with his family taking on the sponsorship in his honour.

Match Report

18 Jan 2018 : Leipzig v Rangers Under 19s moved from The Millbank to safeguard fixture

Following further discussions with the organisers of Sunday's scheduled Under 19s match between RB Leipzig and Rangers, the game has been switched from the Millbank Linnets Stadium pitch to an alternative all-weather venue.

It is disappointing that we will not now be hosting the game but it was imperative with the two squads travelling so far to play that they were guaranteed a game without interference from the elements.

Our hopes of staging games on successive afternoons in January were always dependent on the weather.

With all this in mind, an early decision removes any uncertainty over the high profile fixture going ahead and we can continue planning for Saturday's important home game against Charnock Richard in The Hallmark Security League with the hope that the recent heavy rain abates.
