03 Mar 2023 : Linnets bring in Morecambe midfielder Cameron Rooney

Promising teenager Cameron Rooney has arrived at Runcorn Linnets - on loan from Morecambe FC.

The 18-year-old midfielder has graduated from the Shrimps U18s to the fringes of first-team recognition.

Cameron was last season's Under 18s player of the year at the EFL League One club.

He joined the Lancashire outfit after being spotted playing for Liverpool Schoolboys U13s.

Cameron's maiden appearance in the first team was during the 2021pre-season in a 5-1 win at NPL West club Workington.

He had started out as a striker, scoring for the Shrimps youth team in his under 15s season, making him one of the youngest to do so.

A formation change saw Cameron take on a deeper role, which enabled him to get on the ball more and affect the game.

03 Mar 2023 : Jamal Crawford wings his way to Linnets

Runcorn Linnets are pleased to confirm the signing of Jamal Crawford.

The 25-year-old winger has joined from 1874 Northwich for whom he appeared as a substitute at APEC Taxis Stadium earlier in the season.

Jamal signed for '74 last summer after his second spell at Widnes (the first of these being on loan from FC United of Manchester).

He made 18 times in all for the Greens.

Jamal was at Burnley as a junior before moving to Llandudno in 2016.

He promptly returned to England by transferring to FCUM and playing more than 30 games for them in National League North in the 2017-18 and 2018-19 seasons.

He has also represented Chester, Hyde United, Curzon Ashton, Bamber Bridge, Glossop NE and Trafford.

01 Mar 2023 : Under 21s ace Josh Elverstone steps up to senior ranks

Josh Elverstone has become the latest player to graduate to the Linnets first team from our Under 21s side.

The central defender made his debut off the bench in last night's Cheshire Senior Cup quarter-final victory over Macclesfield.

His introduction came late in the APEC Taxis Stadium tie - and as a striker!

Although out of position, he certainly made the most of his short time on the field, earning himself a place in the senior ranks for the rest of the season.

This isn't Runcorn lad Josh's first stab at senior football as he was previously on the books of Widnes and Ashton Town, who he joined in August 2020.

Prior to that, Josh was in the Academies of Manchester City and Liverpool.

He is strong and versatile technician, who prides himself on fitness.

01 Mar 2023 : Welcome to our new striker Lorenzo Spinelli

Making his debut for Runcorn Linnets in last night's Cheshire Senior Cup quarter-final win over Macclesfield was Lorenzo Spinelli.

Lorenzo (who is also known by his second forename Kevin) has already played at both levels of the Pitching In Northern Premier League this season.

He featured 10 times for Premier Division side, Ashton United and made a further three appearances with Glossop North End of the West Division.

But the 21-year-old centre forward arrives at APEC Taxis Stadium with a Football League club pedigree.

Lorenzo made two substitute appearances for Accrington Stanley during their 2020-21 campaign, the Italian featuring for the EFL One club in both the Carabao Cup and Papa Johns Trophy.

The Brescia-born frontman grabbed two goals for Stanley in Clitheroe's Festival of Football.

He went on to sign his first professional contract in the following close season.

Once describing himself as a "hold-up player", Lorenzo had come through Accrington's Academy system to make the senior squad under John Coleman, himself a former Linnets striker.

Lorenzo represented Stanley at Under 18s and U21 levels and was loaned to Radcliffe and Bamber Bridge before moving to Ashton United for this season on a free transfer.

He subsequently joined GNE, making his debut in October's 1-1 draw against Runcorn Linnets.
