The club is pleased to confirm the signing of 25-year-old midfield player, Zac Aley.

Liverpool-born midfield player Zac spent two years at Blackburn Rovers, who he joined in 2010, having come through the youth ranks at Haig Avenue to make the Southport first team.

While at Ewood Park, he had loan spells with Morecambe in League Two and Macclesfield Town - rejoining Southport, also on a temporary basis in between.

On his release by Blackburn in summer 2012, Zac again returned to Southport on trial but subsequently moved to Warrington Town of the Evo-Stik League.

He has also since played for Northwich Victoria and in the North West Counties League for Ashton Town.

Zac, who can also play in defence, is a qualified referee and becomes our second first-team signing in four days, following the capture of Stuart Wellstead from 1874 Northwich.
