07 Oct 2016 : Danny Salt appointed first-team coach at Runcorn Linnets

RUNCORN Linnets are delighted to announce that Danny Salt has joined the backroom staff as first-team coach.

Danny is no stranger to Linnets fans as he served Runcorn AFC/Runcorn FC Halton in two spells, initially joining in 1997-88 season and returning ahead of the 2003-04 campaign.

He is a former winner of the Runcorn Supporters Club's Player of the Year award and brings much experience in coaching and management and a particularly strong knowledge of the Hallmark Security League.

Danny spent five years as assistant manager of Runcorn Town but had most recently served Widnes FC, having joined their coaching staff this summer after a season managing Rylands FC in the Cheshire League.

He is also a former reserve-team manager of hometown club, Warrington Town.

Danny's clubs as a player also included Wigan Athletic, St Helens Town and Witton Albion.

Commenting on the appointment, Runcorn Linnets manager Michael Ellison said: "I was at Warrington Town with Danny during my playing career and know what an excellent coach and person he is.

"(Assistant manager) Matt Cross and I are, along with the rest of our backroom team, very pleased to welcome Danny on board.

"Danny will compliment and enhance our coaching staff and be a major influence on the development of the young players in the squad."

06 Oct 2016 : Tom Hunt is Goalkeeper of the Month in The Hallmark Security League Premier Division

Tom Hunt has crowned his highly-impressive start as a Runcorn Linnets player by winning September's Goalkeeper of the Month award in The Hallmark Security League Premier Division.

The 20-year-old became the third 'keeper in as many games to don the gloves for the Linnets when coming in for his debut with the season just eight days old.

Tom's excellent form in his first full month with the club, after signing from Droylsden, has been important in rebuilding confidence - a quallity he has shown in abundance.

Tom conceded just three goals in six games last month, earning four clean sheets in five wins and a draw which saw Runcorn Linnets claim the league's divisional club of the month accolade.

His performance in the 1-0 victory at Abbey Hey was acclaimed by fans as one of the best they have witnessed. Well done, Tom. Keep up the excellent work!
