06 Sep 2016 : Adam Donohue moves to St Helens for game experience
Young defender Adam Donohue has been allowed by manager Michael Ellison to sign for St Helens to help him get more game time under his belt.
Adam has been a valuable member of the squad since joining Runcorn Linnets in summer last year but his starting opportunities have been limited. Ello has consented to him dropping into Hallmark Security League Dovision One for more experience and with the expectation that he may well return in the future. In the meantime, we wish him good luck.
06 Sep 2016 : Linnets receive preliminary round bye in Cheshire Senior Cup
Runcorn Linnets are among a handful of clubs to have received a bye in the preliminary round of the Cheshire Senior Cup.
There are seven ties to open the competition in the first week of November but Linnets automatically go through to round one for a second successive season.
05 Sep 2016 : Runcorn beat Barnton 0-4
Runcorn beat Barnton in the Hallmark Security League Premier Division at Townfield Lane with a score of 0-4. Kyle Hamid put the Linnets ahead in the 44th minute following a cracking strike from the penalty spot. Paul Shanley increased the Linnets' lead in the 72nd minute following an unstoppable shot from close range. Paul Shanley extended our lead with a fantastic strike from just inside the area in the 76th minute. Kyle Hamid put us four goals clear in the 84th minute following a powerful penalty. 04 Sep 2016 : Millbank Linnets Stadium to host LFC Under 16s game
THE club is delighted to announce that the Millbank Linnets Stadium has been chosen by Liverpool Football Club to stage a forthcoming fixture involving a Reds Academy team.
LFC Under 16s will entertain Derby County on Monday, September 19th (ko 7pm). Spectators are welcome and admission is free.
Conor Barry, Academy secretary at Liverpool, said: "The competition is called the Bladies Cup which is organised by Sheffield United.
"The aim of the competition is to play at non-league grounds under the floodlights to give the players a different experience from playing at the Academy."
A Linnets spokesman said: "We hope that both teams enjoy the unique atmosphere of the MLS."
03 Sep 2016 : Runcorn beat Padiham 4-2
Runcorn beat Padiham in the Hallmark Security League Premier Division at The Millbank Linnets Stadium with a score of 4-2. Padiham went ahead in the 2nd minute. Mark Houghton equalised in the 9th minute following a cracking overhead kick from inside the 6 yard box. Kyle Hamid put the Linnets ahead in the 13th minute with a well-taken shot from just inside the area. Mark Houghton increased the Linnets' lead in the 15th minute following a fantastic strike from inside the area. Padiham closed the gap in the 38th minute after a defensive error. Padiham player stretchered off in 44th. Steve Foster increased the Linnets' lead with a well-taken strike from just outside the area in the 72nd minute. Padiham #9 sent off for second yellow in 77th minute. Match Report
