23 Jul 2016 : Runcorn beat Middlewich Town 1-6
Runcorn beat Middlewich Town in the Pre-season warm-up at Finney's Lane with a score of 1-6. Mark Houghton scored for the Linnets following a cracking shot from inside the 6 yard box in the 6th minute. Freddie Potter increased the Linnets' lead in the 7th minute following a great strike from just inside the area. Middlewich Town closed the gap in the 21st minute. Steve Ferrigan increased the Linnets' lead with a powerful header from a corner in the 49th minute. Freddie Potter extended our lead in the 52nd minute following a glancing touch from inside the 6 yard box that just crept into the goal. Freddie Potter put us four goals clear in the 75th minute following a powerful strike from just outside the area. Mark Houghton added another to our tally in the 88th minute with a well-taken volley from inside the 6 yard box following a great cross from Adam Donohue.
21 Jul 2016 : Kurt Sherlock moves on
Kurt Sherlock has informed the club of his intention to leave. Everybody at the club would like to thank Kurt for his efforts during his time with us, and wish him the best of luck with his next team.
20 Jul 2016 : Matt Cross appointed as Assistant Manager
Michael Ellison has strengthened his back-room staff with the appointment of Matt Cross, who returns to the Millbank Linnets Stadium, as Assistant Manager. Matt originally signed as a player for the Linnets in December 2012, and he scored 9 goals in 97 appearances, including his legendary over-head kick at Barnoldswick in 2013.
Ello said "Crossy brings with him a wealth of experience, and a great knowledge of teams and players, particularly on the Manchester side of the North West, and I'm delighted he's agreed to join me as my assistant".
20 Jul 2016 : Ellen nets £65 as a Euro 2016 Draw runner-up
The first of three prizes from our Euro 2016 Draw has now been presented.
Our club secretary Lynn Johnston handed £65 to Ellen Atherton, a work colleague at Eddie Stobart. Ellen held ticket No. 30 for France & Germany who of course met in the semi-finals.
The winning ticket No 45 featuring the two finalist nations (Portugal & France) has also been claimed and arrangements are being made for the £250 presentation.
However, the holder of the second £65 runners-up ticket, No 156 (Portugal & Wales) has yet to come forward. So dig deep in your pockets - it could be you!

20 Jul 2016 : Ello signs goalkeeper Jack Cookson
Michael Ellison has continued his team building with the signing of 'keeper Jack Cookson, who has appeared in our first two friendly games and started in goal for last night's 2-2 home draw against Evostik League Premier Division side, Marine.
Jack joins after being at Chorley. He has also played for Connah's Quay Nomads, Morecambe and Stalybridge Celtic.
He has represented Great Britain at the International Student Games, reaching the final before losing on penalties to France.
We welcome Jack to the club and hope that he enjoys playing for Runcorn Linnets.
