13 Nov 2015 : No call for Trust Board election at Runcorn Linnets
The deadline for nominations to the Trust Board of Runcorn Linnets FC Limited passed at noon on Thursday, November 12th with six nominations having been received for the six vacancies.
Nominations were received from the following:
Mark Buckley
Paul Eastup
Derek Greenwood
Lynn Johnston
Adrian W Taylor
Reg Woods
All applicants were eligible to stand for the Board and the six nominations received were accepted as valid applications.
Under the terns of the club's election policy, all six candidates are therefore automatically voted onto the board for the next two years.
Five of the successful candidates are members of the current board while Adrian Taylor will join for the first time after the club AGM next month.
He is already familiar to those attending first-team matches at The Millbank Linnets Stadium as a turnstile operator and he has also contributed behind the scenes by likewise volunteering for pre-season working parties at the ground.
Adrian has previously held office in the Runcorn Darts League and Cheshire Darts Organisation and is a former secretary of the Cheshire Super League.
He also brings committee experience in the world of tropical fish, having held various senior positions with an internationally-renowned study group, including the chairmanship.
Adrian said: "I cannot remember what exact date in the 1960s that my father took me to see Runcorn for the first time but I stood next to my grandfather and two uncles, all of whom had long associations with our great club.
"If asked what I am willing to do for the club, my response would be "Anything". I don't mind getting my hands dirty and I can be relied upon to be there both home and away." David Rose, the other Trust Board member retiring by rotating after his latest two-year spell, chose not to stand for re-election this time after sterling service over the last six years.
Congratulating all the successful candidates while welcoming Adrian Taylor as a new board member, Trust secretary Dave Bettley paid tribute to Dave Rose's superb contribution.
This had seen him twice re-elected by members after joining the board in 2009 - when the club was still playing first-team home games at Witton Albion FC.
Dave Bettley said: "Dave has indicated he is more than happy to continue with the ground maintenance role that he has performed so admirably since the club returned to Runcorn the following year, helping to produce one of the best playing surfaces in the North West Counties League.
"This is excellent news and the board is delighted that he will remain closely involved with the club."
The make-up of the new Trust Board will be officially confirmed at the AGM on Thursday, December 10th at The Millbank Linnets Stadium.
The election statements provided by all six applicants will be available to view at the meeting and will be provided thereafter to individual members on request.
