31 Mar 2015 : Footballing feast to close the season at the Millbank Linnets Stadium
While there are now only two first-team home games remaining for Runcorn Linnets in the 2014-15 season, there is plenty more football at the Millbank Linnets Stadium in the coming weeks.
The club willbe hosting a number of finals in the Halton Junior League as well as the Runcorn & District FA Under 12s final and some special-event matches.
The first of the Halton finals is for the Adam Spearritt Cup - an U13s/14s combined competition, which is staged annually in memory of one of the young victims of Hillsborough. Adam lived in Runcorn and his late father Eddie Spearritt was a trainer for the Linnets' reserve team in Canal Street days.
This game will be preceded by a period of silence in tribute to the 96 who lost their lives in the 1989 disaster.
Another of the finals features one of our own sides with Runcorn Linnets squaring up to Heath Rangers Barca in the U13s G Stapleton Cup final and we look forward to a very exciting and entertaining game, wishing our lads the very best of luck in their efforts to lift the trophy.
The full rundown of junior finals is as follows:
Halton & District Junior League Finals
14th April: U13s /14s Combined - Adam Spearritt Cup Final,ko 6.30pm.
28th April: U13sG Stapleton Cup Final, ko 6.00pm: Heath Rangers Barca v RUNCORN LINNETS followed by U14s G Hesketh Cup Final , ko7.45pm: Cromwell Athletic v Heath Rangers.

Unusually, the Millbank will also be staging on Sunday, 3rd Maya re-enactment of a junior final from yesteryear - in aid of Runcorn Linnets FC.
This follows a request from Jamie Bramwell, who lives in nearby Brookvale.
Jamie explained: "In 1987, at the age of 11 my football team Oaklands Athletic played Halton Sports in the Sharon Hampson Cup Final in which we won 3-2.
"After 28 years of disappointment and heartache, Halton Sports whoseformer football pitch the (Linnets) first team now play on have via Facebook challenged the Oaklands team to a rematch.
"Both teams have found all our team mates who wish to take up the challenge whilst raising money for the Linnets.
"Oaklands have even brought out of retirement our old manager Bob Turner, who now lives in mid Wales, with many of the players now living around the country making the journey."
All the players involved are committed to selling 10 tickets for the match and there will also be raffles to boost the Linnets coffers. Kits for the day have been loaned by the Firefighters Charity.
Jamie added: "We believe that youth football gave us so many excellent memories that giving something back to our local team would be a magnificent way to repay the hard work put in by many."
Kick off will be at 11am. Admission to the game is by ticket only. These are available from Jamie Bramwell, tel 07702252101.
Prior to this – on Thursday, 30th April at 7.30pm – the MLS will welcome stars of the screen for a match in aid of The Clatterbridge Cancer Charity.
Staff of Warrington company Flextronics will go head to head with famous faces from the hit Cheshire-based TV programme Hollyoaks.
Tickets are £5 for adults and £2.50 for children with a family ticket (two adults and two children) available for £14. These are obtainable from the Ticket Hotline (Mon-Fri, 9am-5pm) tel 01925 260870.
Meanwhile, our Youth Team's home fixture against Colne on Sunday, April 26th (kick off 2pm) is also due to take place at the MLS. Tomorrow's (Wednesday, April 1st) visit of Hyde Egerton Academy, also in the North West Youth Alliance, has been postponed due to this week's heavy rain.
