Gavin Salmon scored for the Linnets with a volley in the 10th minute. Antony Hickey increased the Linnets' lead with a close range shot in the 25th minute. Ossett went down to 10 men after 33 minutes after their #4 was shown a straight red for dissent. Ossett Albion closed the gap in the 89th minute, but Mark Houghton restored the Linnets' lead from inside the 6 yard box in the 90th minute.

Alsager Town equalised in the 40th minute. Gavin Salmon scored for the Linnets from inside the 6 yard box in added time of the first half. Mark Houghton increased the Linnets' lead with a close range shot in the 66th minute. Chris Lomax extended our lead with a dipping shot in the 86th minute. Alsager Town pulled one back in added time of the second half from the penalty spot.
