12 Apr 2013 : Planning permission for addition cover granted

The planning permission for the new additional cover to be situated either side of the dugouts has been granted by Halton Borough Council, and we are in the final stages of confirming the funding, with the next step being the placing of the order with the supplier.

Once the order has been placed, the supplier's first step will be to perform a survey of the locations of the stands to make doubly sure that we aren't going to hit any services, as they will be close to the floodlights, and then installation can take place in the close season.

Match Report

06 Apr 2013 : Trust members vote for two new covered areas on dugout side

Votes were counted before today's match against Padiham after a ballot of trust members to decide the best location(s) for the planned new covered areas at The Millbank Linnets Stadium.

Seventy four votes were cast and although they were well spread, Option B ultimately emerged a comfortable winner with 206 points after receiving 27 first-place votes, 23 seconds, 10 thirds and nine fourths.

This means that, subject to planning permission and funding, two separate 12 metre lengths of cover will be erected on the touchline opposite the existing seating stand - one on each side of the present dugouts.

Second place in the voting went to Option D (which would have seen a 12m length of cover to one side of the 'bottom' goal and another at the clubhouse end of the dugout touchline) with 183 points.

Option C (a proposed single 24m-lomg structure at the clubhouse end of the dugout side of the ground) totalled 168 points in third place.

The least popular of the four shortlisted alternatives proved to be Option A - the provision of a 12m long cover to either side of the bottom goal - with 140 points. Only 10 of those members voting made this their preferred choice.

The club, having already received enough funding for one 12m stretch of cover thanks to a Halton Borough Council area forum grant, will keep members and supporters updated on progress with the application it has made to another source.

In the meantime, the Trust thanks club president Alan Jones and supporters Wendy Osborne, Ste Lomax (who stepped in to help at short notice) and Tony Jones for their help with the count.
