After discussions over recent weeks, Runcorn Linnets is pleased to announce that Runcorn Ladies FC will next season play as Runcorn Linnets Ladies FC.

The team was formed last season and have been making great strides during the course of the current season. Discussions are still ongoing in relation to the final details but Ladies team manager Luke Barber said: “We are delighted to be joining the Linnets set up. We have been hugely impressed with what we have seen and the team members are delighted”. “We still need to iron out a number of details so discussions will continue over the rest of the season.”

Linnets Chairman, Derek Greenwood, said: “We are pleased to welcome Runcorn Ladies team into the Linnets set up and we hope this will be a great opportunity for more local participation in the sport”.

Runcorn beat Bootle in the North West Counties Premier League at The Millbank Linnets Stadium with a score of 3-2. Bootle went ahead in the 8th minute. Bootle increased their lead in the 35th minute. Kyle Hamid closed the gap with a close range shot in the 36th minute. Kyle Hamid sent off in 68th for second yellow (the reasons for both were unclear to fans). Gavin Salmon equalised with a close range tap in the 74th minute. Matty Cross scored for the Linnets with a volley in the 77th minute.

Runcorn Linnets fan James Eastup captured one of the great goals of the season on Saturday at Barnoldswick when he filmed Matty Cross scoring the Linnets second goal in a 2-1 win with a superb overhead kick.
