21 Dec 2012 : More Player News

The Linnets are pleased to announce three new signings this evening.

Mark Bailey, a centre forward, arrives from Ashton Athletic where he has scored 9 goals this season. Mark started the season at Prescot Cables.

Levi Kennedy, a utility player, who is comfortable in the back four or in midfield. Levi is a big physical presence who played previously at Woodley Sports and Warrington Town. He has recently returned home after spells in Dubai and America.

Gavin Salmon, a striker, who is well known to non-league fans. He played for Droylsden and Leigh RM in the Conference, and Woodley Sports and Salford and most recently for Northwich Vics in the EvoStik. Gavin is a renowned goalscorer in non league football and has always been a crowd favourite wherever he has played.

We welcome them all to the Millbank Linnets Stadium and wish them well.

Leaving the Linnets are player coach Neil Black and Tommy Turner. Neil has decided the time is now right for him to concentrate on the coaching side of the game. He has enjoyed his time at the club and sends best wishes to everyone involved. We wish Neil the very best in his future. Tommy feels that the time is right for him to leave feeling that his lack of real motivation has become a factor for him. We wish Tommy well.

19 Dec 2012 : Latest Player News

Runcorn Linnets are pleased to announce the signing of former England non-league international Mike Tomlinson.

As a youngster, Mike played for the Linnets before joining Vauxhall Motors and later Burscough, where he won international honours as well as a Unibond Premier League winners’ medal, Lancashire cup and League Cup winners’ medals.

He then went on to play for Warrington Town where he was captain before playing for Salford City and Stockport Sports. We welcome Mike and wish him the very best at the Millbank Linnets Stadium.

Chris Lawton and Richie Mottram have both decided to leave The Linnets. Chris has really enjoyed his time at the club but feels his place is no longer guaranteed and that at 28 years of age he needs to be playing on a regular basis. We thank him and wish him well.

Richie had dual registration this season with Clitheroe and played for them earlier in the season. He has now decided to commit to the Lancashire side as their number 2 keeper and again we wish Richie well.

Former Formby, Leigh Genesis and Chester goalkeeper and local Runcorn lad Adam Judge will take over the number one shirt on Saturday having recently joined the club and played in the reserve team.
