The results of the vote for the 2010/2011 Home Shirt design can now be announced. From very early on, the Olympico horizontal striped design took the lead, and never really looked liked losing it.

The Away Shirt will be the same as the Home Shirt, except in Blue and White. Replica Shirts are available for purchase on the Replica Shirt page.

09 Jun 2010 : Runcorn Linnets Reserves and Youth accepted into West Cheshire League

At the West Cheshire League's Annual General Meeting this evening the Runcorn Linnets Reserve team and Runcorn Linnets Youth team were both formally accepted into the league. The Reserves will play in Division Three and the Youths in the West Cheshire Youth league, and both teams will be based at The Millbank Linnets Stadium, with the Reserves playing all their home games at the new ground, and the Youth team hopefully using a public pitch at Halton Sports. Of course, The Millbank Linnets Stadium will be made available to the Youth Team for prestige fixtures.

Throughout the summer, many options were considered, and meetings were held with Halton FC, with the hope of a merger between First Division Halton and the Linnets Reserve set up. Unfortunately there proved to be too many obstacles to this fast track option to get the Reserves into West Cheshire Division One. The club would like to thank Paul Jameson and the Halton officials for their efforts and time in trying to make this happen. The major stumbling block for this option was the requirement of the Reserves and Youth Team to become a seperate club from Runcorn Linnets FC, however the Trust Board and in particular the steering Football Development Group decided that keeping the Reserve and Youth set-ups within the Runcorn Linnets Club structure would prove to be the best long term strategy. This allows allows both teams to play under the Runcorn Linnets name, and both teams will proudly wear the same Millbank branded kit as the Linnets First Team.

The club really hopes that the Linnets supporters will now get behind Jay Maddock and the Reserves, and Tony Nolan and the Youth Team, in what will be a quite difficult but nonetheless exciting period in the development of Runcorn Linnets. The integration of these two teams, added to the inclusion of Inter Union Junior FC in the overall Linnets' set up, heralds the arrival of a structure at the club where local youngsters can progress through the ranks and hopefully represent the First Team and beyond. In the coming months the club will explore new avenues to further develop and integrate the club into the local community.

31 May 2010 : Runcorn Linnets win the Brian Pendlebury Trophy

The victorious Runcorn Linnets team
Runcorn Cricket Club hosted this year's cricket match against Runcorn Linnets for the Brian Pendlebury Trophy. In what was a 'squad' cricket game, with both sides using at least 12 batsmen and 9 bowlers, the Linnets came out triumphant, picking up the club's first ever winner's trophy, ironically, for cricket rather than football.

The cricket club won the toss, and decided to bowl first, with the Linnets sending out Matty Ashcroft and Matt Atherton to open the batting. The Linnets scored 159 from their 25 overs and in reply the cricketers scored 152 for 10 wickets from their 25 overs, so the Linnets won by 7 runs.

Some photos of the day are available here.
