Runcorn beat Flixton in the Vodkat Premier League at Valley Road with a score of 1-3. Paul fildes in the 40th minute. Flixton equaliser in 43rd. Paul Fildes again 67th with fantastic volley from corner. Jake Ellis in 77th. Match Report
30 Mar 2010 : Runcorn draw with Alsager Town 2-2
Runcorn drew with Alsager Town in the Vodkat Premier League at Town Ground with a score of 2-2. Alsager ahead in 15th after Si Myerscough went down with shoulder injury. Lloyd Balazs equalised 4 minutes later. Alsager ahead in 35th. The second half saw Runcorn all over Alsager, but unable to find the back of the net, until Jake Wood put it away from the penalty spot in the 87th. Match Report
29 Mar 2010 : Inter Union JFC to become Runcorn Linnets Juniors
The club are happy to announce that Inter Union JFC will become the official Linnets youth set-up next season. Next season Saturdays team's will see the Junior teams play in the yellow and green club kit, under the Runcorn Linnets name.
29 Mar 2010 : Reserve Team announced
Runcorn Linnets would like to confirm that they are to run a Reserve Team next season, based at their new home, The Millbank Linnets Stadium.
Dave Rose from the Runcorn Linnets Football Development Group made the announcement. “We would like to announce that Jason Maddock and Simon Archer are joining the club to run the Reserve Team as Manager and Assistant Manager respectively.
“Jason and Simon are well known and highly regarded local coaches, who know the local football scene very well. We are working towards our plans that will bring about a conveyor belt of local talent through to the first team in years to come.”
Jay is well known locally, and is a former Cheshire County FA Grassroots Coach Of The Year, and was awarded Coach Of The Year at the 2007 Halton Sports Awards. Simon has been awarded the Cheshire County FA Volunteer Of The Year Award, and their work, commitment and constant success with Inter Union JFC has been well documented.
Jay Maddock said, “I am relishing this great opportunity and really looking forward to the challenge ahead. I would like to thank the board for this chance to manage Runcorn Linnets Reserves and we are looking forward to working with Steve Wilkes. This is a great club and I am glad we are 'coming home'. I will try to get local players and get them ready for the first team and I will also try my best to make this a club to be proud of and get us back where we belong.”
Jay and Simon have been regular visitors at Linnets matches recently and have struck up an immediate rapport with officials and fans alike. Honorary President of the club, Alan Jones enthused, “The formation of the Reserves and Youth teams is another step forward in the life of Runcorn Linnets FC, giving youngsters in the local area the opportunity to emulate the likes of Ian Woan, Mike Moseley and others. Jason and Simon, along with Tony Nolan are bringing vast experience from clubs like Inter Union and Widnes Wolves - they are both really positive acquisitions for the club.”
The Football Development Group are currently investigating and applying to suitable leagues to house both the Reserve and Youth team from the beginning of next season.
27 Mar 2010 : Runcorn beat Formby 1-0
Runcorn beat Formby in the Vodkat Premier League at Wincham Park with a score of 1-0. Michael Case stretchered off in the 15th. Rob Whyte scored in 19th.
Update: Michael Case has chipped a bone at the bottom of his fibula and torn his ligaments. He'll be on crutches for a couple of weeks. Match Report
