09 Jun 2009 : Club seeks Halton Council Executive Board approval for new ground proposals

The discussions between the club and Halton Borough Council have resulted in a new Ground proposal that is to be put before the Council's Executive Board for approval on the 18th June 2009.

The details of the scheme form part of the agenda for the Executive Board's scheduled meeting on the 18th June, and can be viewed on the Council's website.

Primarily due to the cost of the original scheme to be sited at the Riverside College Campus, it was necessary to seek out alternatives. The Halton Sports site was identified as a location that had a number of advantages, including the provision of a good playing surface, existing changing and hospitality facilities, and the presence of an all-weather surface that could be renovated for both club and public use.

Even with the approval of the Council's Executive Board, the scheme will still be subject to planning approval, but we are hopeful that everything will be in place for the 2010/2011 season.

There will be a meeting arranged for fans to discuss the proposal soon after the HBC Executive Board meeting on the 18th.

11 May 2009 : Runcorn lose to New Mills 0-2

Runcorn lost to New Mills in the Vodkat Challenge Cup Final at The Tameside Stadium with a score of 0-2. New Mills went ahead in the 6th minute, and doubled their tally in the 29th. A valiant performance from the Linnets, in the second half especially, couldn't find the back of the Millers' net. The Yellow and Green faithful, who had turned out in numbers, left the Tameside Stadium disappointed not to have picked up the club's first silverware, but proud of the performance and determination showed by the players on the pitch.

There's always next year...
