08 May 2009 : Runcorn lose to St Helens Town 5-0
Valerie Park used to be the home of Runcorn FC Halton, and so it was with a sense of nostalgia that a number of fans looked forward to the return to the home of Prescot Cables for this St Helen's Town 'away' fixture due to their normal home being unavailable. Unfortunately, what wasn't appreciated is that the scoreline would also return to the embarrasing defeats of those last days of the old club.
In the first 25 minutes of the match, it looked as though Runcorn had the measure of St Helens, and it was only a matter of time before the Linnets would score. However, it was St Helens who managed to go ahead after 35 minutes, then shortly before half time skipper, Clive Brown, was replaced by Nehru McKenzie after a head injury, and the Linnets weren't the same after that. The second half saw Runcorn crumble, conceding in the 51st, 57th, 70th, and 82nd minutes leaving the final scoreline at 5-0.

21 Apr 2009 : Runcorn lose to Congleton Town 1-5
Runcorn suffered a humiliating home defeat at the hands of Congleton Town with a 1-5 drubbing. A mistake from 'keeper Gavin King, as he failed to hold on to a shot, allowed Congleton to go ahead in the 14th minute, and they doubled that tally six minutes later. The Linnets had no reply until seven minutes into the second half when Paul Crewe managed to pull one back, giving hope that all was not lost, but within two minutes Congleton restored their two goal advantage at 1-3, and 58th and 75th minutes saw another two Congleton goals.
