29 Sep 2008 : FA Vase draws international interest

Saturday sees the Linnets travel to Maine Road in the First Round Proper of the FA Vase. Interest in the club's progress in the Vase is widespread, as since the club’s formation in 2006, after the demise of the old club, the Linnets have started to foster International Links right across the world. This started a couple of years ago, with an appeal to “Distant Linnets” to contact the club. The results of this were e-mails from Neil Hamilton, in Perth in Australia, Stuart Rigby out in New South Wales, Matt Reid in Lusk in Ireland, Andy Towell down in Guernsey and Kim Brierley in New Zealand.

The contact with Kim has been a regular one, and has now resulted in the Linnets forming a link of friendship with Te Awamutu FC, and the New Zealand club was kind enough to sponsor a match ball last season for the Linnets, as a sign of the growing links between the two organisations. The International Links have now been further developed with a link up with Toko Lounge out in Switzerland.

The Toko Lounge complex has accommodation and a superb restaurant in Nendaz, Switzerland, which is just 1.5hrs from Geneva. The ski area is one of the biggest and best in Europe linked with the well known Verbier and climbs up to 3300m at Mont Fort.

It boast amazing Mountain Views, and an abundance of Swiss charm & culture. With over 400km of pistes, links to 4 Valleys, ski schools, magnificent walking areas, open air ice rink, 3km sledge run, child care facilities, thermal springs and spa, and the 3,300m Mont Fort 3300m close by, it is a family friendly resort with plenty to do during the day. The exciting nightlife with a fabulous selection of restaurants & bars ensures that the evenings are fun-packed too.

Flights are available from most UK airports via EasyJet, BA and many other operators. Why not visit the Toko Lounge website at www.TokoLounge.com to find out more?

28 Sep 2008 : Tom Baker signs for the Linnets

Runcorn have signed Tom Baker from Connahs Quay. He is a cultured midfield holding player with an eye for goal and a powerful shot. We'd like to welcome him to the club. Let the Dr Who/Little Britain jokes commence...

27 Sep 2008 : Runcorn lose to AFC Fylde 1-0

An 82nd minute goal from AFC Fylde netted them all three points. Runcorn had played well throughout against a strong home side, and it was looking as though the end result was to be a goalless draw, until the Fylde shot went in off the post.

Match Report

It's been confirmed today that Brian Walsh has broken a metatarsal in the Cheshire Senior Cup match against Winsford. We all wish him a speedy recovery.

24 Sep 2008 : Walshy could be out

Fears are mounting that Brian Walsh could join Steve Cunningham, Tom Boden, and Jay Edwards on the bench with injury as it looks as though he may have broken a metatarsal in his right foot in the Cheshire Senior Cup clash against Winsford Utd on Tuesday 23rd September.
