Runcorn Linnets knocked Winsford Utd out of the Cheshire Senior Cup with a superior performance at the Barton Stadium. Rob Whyte's brace in the 8th and 85th minutes, supplimented by Steve Pickup's goal in the last minute of the first half, ensured victory over Vodkat Premier League rivals, despite their 62nd minute goal.

Runcorn continue their run in the FA Vase with a 4-0 victory over Bacup Borough. Despite Bacup starting stong and hitting the post in first minutes, it was Michael Young that opened the scoring for the Linnets in the 12th minute with a scorching volley. Bacup defender, Ryan Marley, doubled the Linnets score with an own goal in the 37th minute, and so it was a 2-0 lead that the Linnets took into the break. In the second half Runcorn doubled their tally with a goal from Ged Courtney in the 66th minute, and a second goal from Michael Young in the 70th.

Steve Cunningham has suffered an abscess on his shin, the removal of which has required surgery and hospitalisation, and it could see the Runcorn skipper out of action for 8 weeks or more. Everybody at the club are sure that the fans will join us in hoping that Cunny makes a speedy recovery, and we look forward to him returning to the pitch as soon as he can.
