15 Jul 2008 : More sponsorship news

We are delighted to announce that the club has secured sponsorship for the back of shirts and shorts for both home and away kits. The 4 figure deal with Widnes Skip and Reclaim is hoped to be the beginning of a long and fruitful partnership. See the Press Release for more information.

In addition we have also secured sponsorship from Reload Design, a Runcorn based company specialising in Graphic Design, Website Design and a variety of other high-tec artwork.

Also, the search for companies to place adverts in this season's Programme has gone well, and so far nearly £2,000 of business has been obtained so far. Encouragingly, this includes a variety of new advertisers as well as those people who have been generous enough to support the club over the years.

We hope to announce a mascot sponsor for the forthcoming season in the very near future.

The club has issued a press release in regard to the rear of Shirt and Short Sponsorship for 2008/2009

Runcorn Linnets Announce Another Shirt Sponsor

Runcorn Linnets FC are pleased to announce a sponsorship deal with Widnes Skip and Reclaim that will see the company’s logo on the back of the Home and Away shirts and shorts for the upcoming season.

Widnes Skip and Reclaim Limited were predominantly a skip hire company in the past, but WSR Recycling, as they are also known, are now very much a recycling company who deal with a wide range of waste streams from construction waste through to trade waste, and they even manage a composting site in Runcorn.

Managing Director, Nick Prescott, said “We operate largely in the local area and so we were delighted that the opportunity arose where we could provide support to a local team who are very much on the rise.

“We are very much in support of Runcorn Linnets’ plans to re-locate back to its natural home in Runcorn, and feel that the local community must get behind the bid to ensure that the town can continue its long association with high standards of non-league football.

“As part of our sponsorship deal with the club, we have agreed to have our company name and logo displayed on the reverse of both the home and away shirts and shorts for the 2008/09 season. We hope that our choice of design and location on the kit can help to attract the club and ourselves a great deal of attention, something that can only be of great benefit to both parties.

“We would like to wish Steve Wilkes and his squad, and also the entire club, every success in the forthcoming season and beyond, and we very much hope that the club can continue to grow and eventually return home to Runcorn in the near future as this is where the club should be!”

The Linnets are looking forward to their next fundraising event; a massive Car Boot sale to be held on Sutton Fields on Sunday, 20th July. Pitching will start at 8:00am, and prices for sellers range from £7 for a car through to £10 for a van. All entrance fees for those looking to peruse the items on offer are donated to the club.

12 Jul 2008 : We met the Manager

Runcorn Linnets FC held a successful Meet the Manager evening on Thursday, 10th July, at the Waterloo Hotel in Runcorn. The popular Steve Wilkes was very up-beat about the coming season and answered lots of questions from fans about the current squad and his plans for the season. Steve had been pleased with early preparations and was now ready for the friendlies, starting on July 15th at Helsby.

He talked about his own management style, as well as some of the highlights of his time in football. Steve showed throughout the evening a sharp wit and obvious enthusiasm for the game. When asked what had attracted him to Runcorn, he was quite clear that it was the history and potential of the club.

He introduced new midfield signing Steve Cunningham to the fans, who has joined in the close season from Salford City. Steve talked to the fans about pre-season preparations and what they should expect from the new players who have arrived at the club.

The whole evening was videoed as part of the club’s DVD for the new ground. The club would like to express sincere thanks to Bel and Gary Oates at the Waterloo for the refreshments and hospitality extended to the fans on the night.
