29 Dec 2007 : New Tote Winner!
Barbara Peterson, a regular Tote player from the Union Tavern, won the Tote jackpot of £580.50 on Saturday 29th December.
All proceeds from the Tote are now being placed in the ground fund, so there's never been a better time to play the Tote. Details can be found on the Tote page.
29 Dec 2007 : Runcorn lost to Glossop North End 4-1
In poor weather, on a very heavy pitch, a depleated Runcorn team had the stuffing knocked out of them in the last minutes of the first half when Glossop scored two goals in quick succession. With renewed vigour, they came out in the second half, with reserve 'keeper Ross Boyd showing some flair in the forward position he was forced to play, after Steve Carragher had stuck it out for as long as his knee would hold up.
Full marks to the players that did make the trip to Glossop, their loyalty was unquestionable, with even Kenny Rollinson returning to fill in for those who were unable to attend. It's disappointing that the reasons for absence went from a credible inability to get the time off work over the holiday period through arrangement of an unannounced last minute holiday, all the way to simply going AWOL - the club and the fans deserve better.
Glossop sealed the deal in the 65th and 79th minutes, and it never looked as though Runcorn would be able to pull that sort of defecit back, although a small consolation in the 88th minute came in the form of a Thomas Boden goal to leave the final score at 4-1.
26 Dec 2007 : Runcorn lose to Winsford 2-1
An unfortunate goalkeeping error from Robbie Holcroft in the 79th minute allowed Winsford to get the clincher in what was looking like it could have been a 1-1 draw, if not a win, for a dominant Runcorn. Match Report
18 Dec 2007 : Street Collection a success!
On Saturday 15th December, a number of fans held a street collection in the town centre, prior to the Bacup Match. Although the event is primarily seen as an opportunity to meet and talk to the people of Runcorn, the collection raised over £310. There was plenty of interest in the club, and its plans to return to the town, so all in all it was a successful day, despite the cold weather.
