23 Nov 2007 : Runcorn sign Michael Grogan

Runcorn have today signed Michael Grogan from Skelmersdale United (the Weekly News were a bit premature in reporting it!). Michael, who is 18 years old, is a tall midfielder and is elligible for selection for tomorrow's match against Atherton LR.

20 Nov 2007 : Runcorn lose to St Helens 2-4

A disappointing result with a below par performance from the Linnets allowed St Helens Town take all three points, despite having the lead at half time. St Helens went ahead in the 17th minute after a defensive error, but Thomas Lamb equalised a minute later from the penalty spot following foul on Young. Young Thenput the Linnets ahead in the 38th minute. The second half saw St Helens look the stronger team, with the Linnets not making anything of the chances they created. The equaliser came just five minutes into the second half. St Helens retook the lead in the 75th minute, and it was put out of Runcorn's reach by an unlucky rebound off Halpin in the 88th for an own goal.

15 Nov 2007 : Dave Thompson latest

As some people may be aware, following his absence from Tuesday's Cheshire Senior Cup match against Altrincham, Dave Thompson has suffered injury after falling through the ceiling in a loft. Thankfully, he didn't fall right through, but did suffer damage to his ankle. The subsequent swelling has gone down, and the injury isn't as bad as first feared. It's possible he may be ready to return in just a couple of weeks.

11 Nov 2007 : Press Release - Cheshire Senior Cup, Half-Season Ticket, and NicePriceUK.com

The club has issued a press release regarding the upcoming Altrincham match, the release of the half-season ticket, and it's link up with NicePriceUK.com on the run up to Christmas.

Runcorn Linnets are looking forward to their Cheshire Senior Cup quarter-final clash against old rivals Altrincham on Tuesday night. The club’s predecessor won the cup for five consecutive years between 1985 and 1989, and the new Linnets will be looking to emulate that success against their Conference opposition. The match is to be played at Wincham Park, Witton, on Tuesday 13th November with a kick-off of 7:45pm.

The Linnets have also made it easier for fans to visit the last nine league fixtures of the season with the introduction of a half-season ticket which offers nine games for the price of seven. Tickets can be purchased online at the club’s website, www.RuncornLinnetsFC.co.uk, or at the club show on the remaining match-days in November. The half-season ticket will run from the 15th December.

If a half-season ticket doesn’t seem like the best early Christmas present for a loved one, then why not get them a replica Linnets shirt? The deadline for ordering a shirt for Christmas delivery has been extended to the end of November. Adult shirts are £30, and children’s are £26, and both can be ordered via the club’s website. Even if neither of those prospects seem like the ideal stocking filler, then a visit to the club’s website could still be in order due to the link up with NicePriceUK.com. A percentage of sales on the run up to Christmas purchased on the NicePriceUK.com website will go straight to the Runcorn Linnets Ground Fund which will see the club return to the town. You can visit their site, which has a whole host of great deals and gift ideas from DVDs, Music, Books through to Sat Navs, iPods and Phones, at www.NicePriceUK.com.
