17 Apr 2007 : Runcorn beat Oldham 4-2
Following a late kick-off due to Oldham's late arrival because of traffic, Runcorn went ahead early in the 7th minute with a Dave Thompson goal. Paul Scott made the tally in the 28th, and so the Linnets went into half-time with a 2-0 lead. The second half began with Oldham having renewed vigour, and their efforts paid off in the 63rd and 65th minutes with two goals to equalise. Dave Thompson and Michael Young were quick to respond with goals in the 69th and 70th minutes to give the Linnets 3 valuable points on a night where Winsford were beaten 3-2 by Chadderton. 16 Apr 2007 : Press Release - John Williams to attend Presentation Evening
The club has issued a press release about the Presentation Evening, and the news that ex-Runcorn Manager, and "Linnets Legend" will be attending.
Runcorn Linnets are happy to announce that “Linnets Legend” John Williams will be attending the Linnets’ Presentation Evening at Pavilions, Sandy Lane, on Friday 4th May. As guest of honour he will present the various awards to members of the current squad. John Williams, as manager of Runcorn FC, presided over possibly the two best seasons in the club’s history in 1981 and 1982 when the it won the Northern Premier League by a mile, and went on to win the Alliance the following season, which is now the Conference. In addition to the presentations, there will be entertainment and a buffet. Tickets cost £5, and are available on match days, or via the club’s website at www.RuncornLinnetsFC.co.uk. Hopefully the event will also be a celebration of promotion from North West Counties Division 2 to Division 1. With only three matches of the season to go, it looks as though Winsford will take top spot, but the Linnets are in a very strong second position, and hope to clinch that second promotion spot with wins against Oldham and Holker Old Boys at home on Tuesday and Saturday respectively. The final fixture of the season is away to Chadderton on the 28th April, exactly one year since the decision was taken to create a new club following the demise of Runcorn FC Halton.
