20 Mar 2007 : Runcorn beat New Mills 5-3

In a game that opened with two goals from Runcorn in under 10 minutes scored by Paul Scott and Thomas Lamb, punctuated with immediate New Mills equalisers, it looked like it was going to be a high scoring match with plenty of action. The game settled down, but the fast New Mills side always looked dangerous. It wasn't until the 70th minute that Paul Scott scored again, and marked the turning point in the match, with Dave Thompson pushing the score to 4-2 just three minutes later. Lamb scored his second of the evening in the 80th minute to seal the deal, but New Mills got a consolation goal in the dying minutes of the match to leave the final scoreline at 5-3.

15 Feb 2007 : Press Release - Negotiations with Severn Leisure have ceased

The club has issued a press release regarding the end of negotiations with Severn Leisure, the owners of Pavilions, about the possibility of developing a ground on that site.

The possibility of playing at Pavilions, the former ICI sports complex at Weston Point, as had been mooted before Christmas, is no longer a prospect. However, the search for a new home for Runcorn Linnets continues unabated as a number of sites are being actively investigated.

Negotiations have taken place over recent months with Severn Leisure, the owners of Pavilions, about the possibility of leasing or purchasing land to develop as the Linnets' new ground. Despite an initially promising start, it has now transpired that Severn Leisure have decided that they are unable to accommodate Runcorn Linnets on their site, and have declined to offer a lease, or provide a price for purchase. Consequently, discussions between the two parties have come to an end, and Runcorn Linnets are actively pursuing other options at alternative locations within the town.
