30 Jan 2007 : Press Release - Meet the Manager, Disco, DVDs, and Next Season's Away Shirt

The club has issued a press release about the Meet the Manager session, the Disco at the Castle, Match DVDs, and Next Season's Away Shirt.

Runcorn Linnets FC have arranged a meet the manager session at the Halfway House on Monday the 26th February. This will give the fans an opportunity to speak to Steve Carragher, and his assistant, Mark Phillips about the season so far, and their aspirations for the months and seasons to come. A hot-pot dinner will be provided. Tickets are priced just £3 and are available at matches, alternatively, you can provide your details via the club's website at www.RuncornLinnetsFC.co.uk and the club will make arrangements to send your tickets out to you.

Also, a disco has been arranged at The Castle on Saturday, March 17th from 8:00pm til late. In addition to the Disco there will be a Buffet, Raffles, and Auction and other activities. Tickets are priced £5.00, and like the "Meet the Manager" tickets, can be purchased at matches, or requested via the club's website.

In association with our commercial partners, SponsorLink, the club has a number of DVDs of matches available for sale. All DVDs cost £5, and the matches currently available are:
  • Runcorn Linnets v Ashton Athletic - 2nd September 2006
  • Runcorn Linnets v Winsford United - 24th October 2006
  • Runcorn Linnets v Chadderton - 30th December 2006
  • Congleton Town v Runcorn Linnets (Mid Cheshire Cup) - 17th January 2007
  • Runcorn Linnets v Norton United - 27th January 2007
In preparation for next season, the club are looking to choose a new away strip. The club is asking visitors to the website to help decide between two alternative shirt designs - one is a white top with red and blue trim, and the other is a design featuring blue and white quarters. The winning design will replace the "Unlucky Red Strip" next season, although it is hoped that, by that time, it will be known simply as the "Unlucky in the first half of the season, but incredibly lucky in the second half Red Strip". ;-)

On Friday the Linnets travel to Bootle in the North West Counties Division Two Cup, and then following a trip to Padiham on the 10th February, their next home match is against Eccleshall on Tuesday 13th February.

27 Jan 2007 : Runcorn beat Norton United 2-0

Two goals from Dave Thompson in the first half secured victory in our first home game of the year.

14 Jan 2007 : Press Release - Scheme to increase attendance

The club has issued a press release about the new schemes it has put in place to try and increase its attendances for home matches.

Runcorn Linnets FC are looking to build on their attendances with the introduction of a number of schemes. The Linnets already enjoy the highest attendances in both divisions the Northwest Counties League, apart from the somewhat exceptional FC United of Manchester, but are looking to attract as many local football fans to the remaining home matches to witness, what will hopefully turn out to be, promotion in the club's inaugural season.

In order to raise awareness of fixtures, a renewed poster campaign is taking place around the town with details of upcoming fixtures being displayed in many public places. In addition, posters can be downloaded from the club's website at www.RuncornLinnetsFC.co.uk so fan's can print their own posters for display in their Shop, Pub or School, etc.

The club has been playing its home matches at Wincham Park, the home of Witton Albion, due to there being no ground of a suitable standard available within Runcorn. Despite the excellent facilities at Wincham Park, it's not the easiest place to get to from Runcorn using public transport. From January 27th, the Runcorn Linnets Travel Club will not only provide transport to away matches, but will also provide transport to home matches from Runcorn for just £4, with pick-up points at Halton Lea, and Runcorn Old Town Bus Station. For more details about the Travel Club call Glyn Davies on 07870 147988.

Finally, anybody who missed the opportunity to purchase a Season Ticket at the start of the season can now purchase a Half-Season Ticket which will allow entry to the remaining 10 home league matches at a discount! The Adult Half-Season Ticket costs £42, representing a saving of £8, with the Concessionary Ticket costing just £17, a saving of £3. Remember that children under 13 joining the Young Linnets for just £3 will automatically receive a Season Ticket, and kids under 4 are eligible for free Season Tickets.

As a special offer, any adult who purchases a Half-Season Ticket and joins the Runcorn Linnets Trust prior to the next home match against Norton Utd on 27th January, will be eligible for a further £2 discount from the Half-Season Ticket price, making them just £40 - equivalent to a 20% discount. Application forms are available for download from the Club's website - www.RuncornLinnetsFC.co.uk.

06 Jan 2007 : Runcorn lose to Oldham Town 2-0

On certainly the worst playing surface the Linnets have ever faced, the passing football that we normally enjoy was disrupted enough for Oldham Town to put two goals past an, otherwise outstanding, Robbie Holcroft.

Match Report

30 Dec 2006 : Runcorn beat Chadderton 2-1

On a wet pitch, it was a Chadderton own goal that gave the Linnets the win they probably deserved. Final score 2-1.
