20 Dec 2006 : Press release - new Board

The club has issued a press release about the new board, and appointments.

Following the Board Elections on the 11 December, the first meeting of the new Board of Runcorn Linnets FC has taken place. At the meeting, the following has been decided;

The following roles have been taken up by the board members:

Chairman - Derek Greenwood
Vice-chairman - Hedley Edwards
Club Secretary - Anthony Waddington
Vice-secretary - Lynn Johnston
Financial Controller - Joanne Wilks
Commercial/Fundraising - Paul Ramsden/Glyn Davies
Press Officer - Steve Pritchard
Community Development Officer - Robert Johnston
Members without Portfolio - Kelvin Hoose
- David Dutton
Co-opted Member - Philip Wainright (from Supporters Club)

There are a couple of roles that will continue to be filled by members of the interim board who did not put themselves forward for the new board elections. These are Robert Wilks, who will continue as Treasurer, and ex-Chairman, Stuart White, who will continue to lead the "Return to Runcorn" strategy group.

Robert Ellison has been appointed as Trust Secretary. This is a role that is defined within the club's newly modified constitution, which was ratified at the SGM on 11 December, taking responsibility for the correct and legal operation of the Trust's activities, in addition to many of the administrative matters of calling meetings and Trust Membership.

It was agreed that the contribution of the previous board members who had not been re-elected, namely Darren Law, and Gregor Law, had been very much appreciated and it was hoped that they, along with the other two unsuccessful candidates who had also been actively involved within club operations, Simon Charlesworth, and John Urquart, would continue to play a part within the running of the club.

It was also noted that since the club is a fan's based organisation, there are always opportunities for fans to volunteer to assist in different areas of the club, and the Board should not be seen as the group that runs the club in isolation.

Newly appointed Chairman, Derek Greenwood, said "I am very proud and honoured to have been asked to chair the Board by my fellow board members. The progress the club has made in a relatively short space of time is due to the hard work and dedication of these fans and all those others who have contributed in different ways. We hope to continue with that work and to create a solid foundation for the future development of the club. My thanks also go to Steve Carragher and Mark Phillips for creating a team that has already given us much to admire. To the players themselves, we say a huge thank you. If the second part of the season is anything like the first, then the fans are in for some great entertainment and real excitement. Remember, this club was established by the fans, for the fans and we would like to thank you all for your excellent support".

The Board of Runcorn Linnets FC would like to wish everybody a merry Christmas and happy New Year, and hope to see a strong following taking the trip to New Bucks Park for our Boxing Day fixture, away, against Bootle.
