26 Aug 2006 : Runcorn beat Daisy Hill 1-2

Runcorn continued their unbeaten league run with a 1-2 win over Daisy Hill. Despite going 1-0 following a penalty, Runcorn came back with perhaps a less polished performance than we've seen in previous matches, but goals from Dave Thompson and Paul Scott secured the win.

20 Aug 2006 : Runcorn Linnets continue dream start!

The club has issued a press release about their match against Castleton Gabriels.

On Friday night, in front of a crowd of 231, the second highest in the North West Counties league regardless of division, Runcorn Linnets FC beat Castleton Gabriels 5-0 at their new home of the Wincham Park Stadium, Witton in a match sponsored by Lloyds TSB of Runcorn.

Two goals from Dave Thompson, along with further goals from Thomas Lamb, Michael Young, and substitute Paul Davies, gave Runcorn third place in the league after Saturday's fixtures had been played out, plus the greatest goal difference in the second division with 9, despite having played one game less than the two teams, Darwen and Padiham, above them.

The club would like to thank the fans that turned out on Friday night. The event was made all the more enjoyable with the addition of some old faces that hadn't been seen since the days of Canal Street, at the end of the nineties.

The Linnets travel to Westhoughton, near Bolton, next weekend to play Daisy Hill, and hope that their winning ways can continue.

15 Aug 2006 : Runcorn lose to Alsager Town 3-2

Runcorn Linnets' attempt to achieve Cheshire Senior Cup glory in their first attempt has ended prematurely with a 3-2 defeat at the hands of Alsager Town. However, solice can be taken from the fact that against a team two leagues above the new club, and who, for most of the match, had an extra player following the dismissal of Kenny Rollinson, the Linnets performance was an excellent one.
