Runcorn Linnets FC are happy to announce that at the AGM of the Moore & Co. Construction Solicitors League on 17th June, their application to join the league was accepted by the league members.

All that remains is final ratification by the FA before confirmation of our place in the league next season.

15 Jun 2006 : Runcorn Linnets to put case to Moore & Co. Construction Solicitors League AGM

The Moore & Co. Construction Solicitors League Management Committee have agreed to put Runcorn Linnets FC's application before the AGM on Saturday 17th. Acceptance at the AGM would mean that we are only dependent upon ratification by the FA before we can confirm we have a place in the North West Counties League for next season.

14 Jun 2006 : Runcorn Linnets FC are one step closer to a place in The Moore & Co. Construction Solicitors League

The club has issued the following press release:

Following informal discussion with the North West Counties league, sponsored by Moore & Co. Construction Solicitors, the Runcorn Linnets have secured agreement to put their case in front of the league's management committee. If the committee agree to support the application, then the application will be placed before the member clubs of The Moore & Co. Construction Solicitors League on 17th June. Should the application get support by the league and its members, then formal approval would be required from the FA.

The Linnets have secured a ground share deal with Witton Albion FC, which was ratified by their board earlier this week. The two year deal provides the league with the assurances it requires, and also gives time for the Linnets to prepare for their return home to Runcorn. However, the deal can be ended early should a return to Runcorn be possible within the two year period.

Witton Chairman, Mike Worthington, said "I believe there should be a Runcorn football team playing at the highest level achievable, and I hope the support we are able to provide at this time will be the foundation for their future success". He continues "I hope the people in Runcorn give the necessary support and we look forward to sharing our excellent facilities at Wincham Park with them".

31 May 2006 : Runcorn sign Steve Carragher as Manager

The club has issued the following press release:

Runcorn Linnets FC is happy to announce the appointment of Steve Carragher as manager of the newly formed club. Steve is in his second spell at Runcorn having rejoined the club from Accrington Stanley at the start of the 2001/2002 season. After making almost 200 appearances for Runcorn, many as Captain, Steve was appointed Manager of Runcorn FC Halton at the end of the 2004/2005 season after a short spell as Assistant Manager.

Steve Pritchard, the club's Press Officer, said "We are very happy that Steve Carragher has accepted our offer to become the manager at Runcorn Linnets FC. All the fans were impressed with what he did for us last season, and we see his appointment as representing yet another step towards our goal of competing in the North West Counties League next season."

Carragher said "I'm very pleased to get involved with this club that shares my ambition to put Runcorn back into the Northern Premier league as soon as possible."

While Carragher starts the hunt for players, the committee are still rigorously pursuing their application into the North West Counties League Division 2.

Currently, the main stumbling block to joining the league is that the status of the old club isn't precisely known. It is understood that Runcorn FC Halton have failed to apply to play in any league next season, and have confirmed that they won't be taking their place in the UniBond First Division to which they were relegated. Until it's clear that the old club is not going to continue to play, and cease its membership of the FA, it's not possible for the new Runcorn Linnets FC to take the position within the league that a reformed club can hope to be entitled to.

Despite this, Runcorn Linnets FC will continue to push for acceptance into the league regardless the status of the old club which officials at the league and FA are struggling to determine.

Pritchard said "We see ourselves as the de facto reformation of the old Runcorn FC Halton club irrespective of the apparent confusion over the actual status of the old club. We need to convince the FA and League that this is the case."
