10 Sep 2005 : Runcorn out of FA Cup

Runcorn lost in the FA Cup 1st Round Qualifier to Skelmersdale United 2-3. In an exciting match Runcorn enjoyed the majority of the possession in the first 15 minutes, but Skelmersdale looked dangerous from the off. Runcorn enjoyed a 2-1 lead at half time from Tommy Taylor and Sean Whalley goals, but in the second half, Skelmersdale managed to put two away, one of which was a penalty following Jimmy Potter handling in the area, to leave the scoreline at 2-3.

Match Report

06 Sep 2005 : Runcorn lose to Ashton United 1-2

Runcorn have dropped to the bottom of the table following their 1-2 defeat by Ashton United at Valerie Park. Runcorn can count themselves unlucky to be in this position as their standard of play has been good, and they haven't been outclassed by the opposition, but they haven't been able to capitalise on their chances, and are still looking, ever more desperately, for the first win of the season to turn around their fortunes.

03 Sep 2005 : Runcorn lose to Ossett Town 2-1

Ossett got off to a lucky start after seven minutes when a rebound fell their way, and left Robbie Holcroft with nowhere to go. Shortly after that, Runcorn went down to 10 men after Captain, Billy Robertson, was sent off for a deliberate handling in the area. Runcorn managed to equalise in the 61st minute with a Tommy Taylor goal, but Ossett managed to maintain their one goal lead 9 minutes later.

Match Report

29 Aug 2005 : Runcorn draw with Marine 0-0

Runcorn were reunited with their ex-management team, Alvin MacDonald and Peter Carroll, and a number of ex-players as Marine visited Valerie Park in what transpired to be a goal-less fixture.

Familiar faces such as Lee Parle, Nicky Young, Robbie Moore and Carl Rendell gave the new-look Runcorn side little trouble in the first half where the home team looked more dangerous but weren't able to capitalise on their chances. In the second half, Marine looked more composed, especially in the 25 minutes after half time, but they, like Runcorn, were unable to make any of their chances count.

The match ended goal-less with both teams probably left wondering whether they should have been able to clinch it.

27 Aug 2005 : Runcorn lose to North Ferriby 3-1

Despite a Tommy Taylor goal putting Runcorn into the lead in the first half, Runcorn were unable to prevent league topping North Ferriby United from taking the win with 3 goals.
