Match Report

14 Sep 2004 : Runcorn lose to Southport 3-1

Runcorn were in damage limitation mode for the first half, playing into gale force winds it was obvious that they were hoping to try keep a clean sheet, and then maximise the wind behind them in the second half. They did well to have a scoreline of 1-0 at half time after a Southport goal in the 18th minute.

Unfortunately, just minutes into the second half, Southport scored again putting the pressure on. This was followed up ten minutes later with another Southport goal. Lee Parle managed to head in a consolation goal in the 66th minute, making it look so easy, but Runcorn weren't able to recreate those chances. Uncharacteristically, Peter Ellis allowed frustration to get the better of him, and was sent off in the last minute, but having just 10 men for the closing seconds of the match made little difference to a lacklustre performance in appalling weather.

11 Sep 2004 : Runcorn lose to Droylsden 3-0

Goals in the 6th, 54th and 81st minutes saw Runcorn defeated by a strong Droylsden side.

04 Sep 2004 : Runcorn draw with Worcester 2-2

Runcorn were enjoying a 2-0 lead after 18 minutes thanks to goals from Nicky Young after 12 minutes, and Carl Rendell. Worcester pulled back a goal 8 minutes later. Their second came five minutes into the second half, which was dominated by an incident where David Ness was elbowed in the head, not for the first time, resulting in a yellow card for the Worcester no. 10 which many thought should have been red. Ness had to be subbed and was suffering with what looked like concussion - we wish him a speedy recovery.

30 Aug 2004 : Runcorn draw with Stafford Rangers 0-0

Stafford looked the more dangerous at the beginning of the first half, but Runcorn probably had more chances in the second. Neither side could make any of their opportunities stick, leaving the score at 0-0 after 90 minutes.
