Despite being 5-0 down at half time, Runcorn didn't give up and fought back with two goals from Carl Rendell, and a further goal each for John Robertson and Kieron Durkan.

Lee Kissocks goal put Runcorn ahead after 28 minutes, with visitsors Stalybridge equalising just 8 minutes later. The second half was a competitive end-to-end affair, with multiple chances for both teams. Runcorn hit the woodwork a number of times, and were unlucky that a well struck Nicky Young volley was spectacularly saved by Stalybridge's Craig Dootson. Stalybridge got closest to a goal by managing to get the ball into the back of the Runcorn net to have it disallowed for off-side.

Despite having enough chances to have a 4-0 lead at half time against Hucknall Town at Watnall Road, Runcorn were unable to make the most of their opportunities and the result was a 0-0 draw.

An 88th minute goal from Mike Garrity gave Runcorn their first points of the season with a 0-1 win away to Bradford Park Avenue.

Runcorn lost their inaugural Nationwide North match after a wonder goal by Simon Hollis gave Redditch a 1-0 win at the Halton Stadium. Hollis latched on to a defensive clearance in the 65th minute, and his first time strike from 25 yards found the top corner with Tony McMillan well beaten.
