06 Mar 2004 : Runcorn lose to Ashton United 4-2

Runcorn lost to Ashton 4-2 despite looking to be the stronger team in the first half. Runcorn dominated at the start of the match, but an inability to get a good clearance in, enabled Ashton to score after 9 minutes. After 23 minutes Carl Rendell put away an equaliser. Seconds before half time, Ashton were able to capitalise on another defensive error, and made the scoreline 2-1.

In the second half, Runcorn didn't look as dangerous as they had in the first half, but Ged Courtney was able to convert the penalty awarded to Paul Aldridge. After 80 minutes Ashton were able to go ahead again, and Runcorn had no reply.
