Just to dispel the rumours flying about - Runcorn FC Halton have received no Official approaches from Clubs wishing to buy Kevin Leadbetter. Runcorn FC Halton see Kevin as an important member of the playing squad and as an integral part of the team in their bid to gain a place in Conference North.

An unfortunate, yet fundamental, error from reserve 'keeper Andy Murphy allowed Leek Town to take the lead in the first ten minutes, and Runcorn never really looked dangerous enough to turn it around. Murphy allowed himself to get into a dribbling situation with a Leek striker at the goal-mouth, and the goal that followed was just an inevitability. Leek scored a second after 60 minutes. Substitute, Matty McGinn, scored Runcorn's consolation goal after 80 minutes, and probably had a couple of the best chances for Runcorn, which did look like a side saving itself for the FA Trophy game against Altrincham on Saturday.

Runcorn's performance was visibly improved over home matches of last years, but they were unable to get their first home win of the season. Hucknall scored after just 7 minutes, but Dominic Morley equalised with the last touch of the first half. Hucknall managed to push ahead for the win in what was an entertaining match to watch.

Despite going ahead with a single goal, Droylsden were unable to stop Runcorn winning the last game of the year with an equaliser from Kevin Leadbetter, and the clincher from Ged Courtney.

The winner of the Leek Town/Runcorn FC Halton game has been drawn at home in the quarter-finals of the Chairman's Cup to Farsley Celtic. Tie to be played to a conclusion on Saturday 24th January 2003.
