A two goal lead was insufficient to ensure victory for the Linnets against visitors Worksop. Steve Carragher scored after 37 minutes with a well placed shot. After 61 minutes Worksop scored an own-goal, giving Runcorn a 2-0 lead. With less than 10 minutes to go Worksop managed to score in the Runcorn goal, and this was to prove to be the turning point in the match, which up until then, was pretty well dominated by Runcorn. With just two minutes to go Worksop scored a second, and in the 90th minute they put away their third to clinch the victory.

Runcorn beat Frickley 3-2 in a close fought contest. Runcorn went ahead after 18 minutes with a Matty McGinn goal, but Frickly equalised just a few minutes later. Frickley then took the advantage five minutes before half time. Runcorn returned from the break with renewed vigour, and equalised in the 47th minute from a very tight Chris Lightfoot shot. When it looked as though it was going to the replay on Tuesday night, Chris Lightfoot clinched the win in the 90th minute.
