A Steve Daly goal in the 36th minute saw Runcorn continue their unbeaten away form this season. A dubious pentaly awarded against David Ness in the dying minutes of the match was saved by Tony McMillan ensuring the victory.

A strong performance from Runcorn saw them keep up their victorious away form with a spectacular goal from Kevin Leadbetter in the 36th minute. Leady hit a spectacular volley from the edge of the area to score, and to give the Linnets another three points from an away fixture.

Runcorn lost their first game of the new season after an unbeaten run of eleven games to a physical Bradford P.A. side. Bradford went into the lead in the first half, but Steve Daly equalised shortly thereafter. In the second half, Bradford put away the penalty awarded to them after Mike Harris brought down a player in the area, leaving the score at 1-2 to the visitors.

Runcorn continue their unbeaten run with a 2-2 draw against Droylsden. Chris Lightfoot put away a penalty after 30 minutes to put the Linnets in the lead, in a first half which they dominated. 15 minutes into the second half there was a flurry of goals, as Droylsden equalised, Steve Daly made it 2-1, and Droylsden equalised once more, all within the space of a few minutes.
