At half time Runcorn were 2-0 down. Neil Whalley made it 2-1 from a Dave Gamble free kick, 35 yards out, which was powered along the ground through the wall, and deflected in by Neil. Unfortunately, Dave Gamble was unable to convert a penalty, awarded after Liam Watson was brought down in the area, into the equaliser.

A Lee Parle goal put Runcorn ahead in the 44th minute, but Altrincham equalised in the 67th, leaving the scoreline at 1-1. Gary Lunt had Runcorn's best chance of snatching the win but fluffed his kick 6 yards from the goal, and it bobbled unthreateningly into the keeper's waiting hands.

Young midfielder Mike Harris has been signed from Trafford and is in the squad for today's game at Altrincham.

Runcorn exited the Liverpool Senior Cup following a 4-1 defeat from second division Tranmere Rovers. Runcorn went down 1-0 after 19 minutes. The equaliser came in stoppage time, forcing the game into extra time. It wasn't until the second period of extra time where Tranmere got 3 goals in quick succession that the final scoreline was set.

A Wes Kinney goal put Runcorn ahead after just two minutes. Marine played the second half with just 10 men, following a second bookable offence from one of their players in the 44th minute. Runcorn made it 2-0 in the 78th minute with a composed goal from Matty McNeil. Runcorn matched Marine's 10 men when Peter Ellis was sent off in the 85th minute following a dangerous challenge.
