06 Aug 2002 : Runcorn lose to Chorley 3-1
Runcorn FC Halton were disappointed to come away from Chorley with a 3-1 defeat with two harsh penalty awards going against the Linnets. Although Runcorn dominated from the start playing some good football, Chorley broke away and took the lead from the penalty spot. The Linnets continued to press forward and Dave Gamble hit the post from a well struck free kick. Kevin Leadbetter cleverly beat the Chorley defence at the beginning of the second half but put his host over the bar. Chorley responded by extending their lead. Chris Price pulled one back for the Linnets with a well taken goal after he had run on to a fine pass from Mike Edwards.
With five substitutes introduced in the second half Runcorn pressed for the equaliser but Chorley completed the scoring with another penalty in the closing stages. It was another good workout for the Linnets, giving all members of the squad the chance to gain their match fitness.

Substitutes Liam Watson and Richard Irving both had opportunities to increase the scoreline but Runcorn FC Halton worked hard to maintain their advantage to the finish.
01 Aug 2002 : Runcorn lose to Aintree Villa 1-0
Runcorn's pre-season unbeaten run came to an end against Aintree Villa who scored early in the first half. Runcorn were fielding a number of trialists, so this might explain the loss to a relatively minor side.
30 Jul 2002 : Runcorn draw with Trafford 2-2
Runcorn FC Halton continued their unbeaten run in the pre-season warm-up with a more settled team. Only Wes Kinney played as an unconfirmed team member for this coming season.
Trafford went ahead after 29 minutes, and Matty McNeil scored with just a few minutes to go before half time. The second half saw a lovely goal headed in by Wes Kinney from a cross supplied by Liam Watson, but Trafford managed to equalise.
Trafford provided some of the strongest opposition so far in the pre-season fixtures, but the Linnets should have made it 4 goals though. Matty McNeil failed to score a penalty, and missed a one-on-one opportunity with the keeper.
