11 Sep 2020 : Linnets are handed a bye in Cheshire Senior Cup draw
The club last night received details of the draw for the Cheshire Senior Cup involving Runcorn Linnets.
We have received a bye in the first round and will visit Altrincham or Barnton in January's second round.
09 Sep 2020 : Ruffer back on Linnets teamsheet as Tom follows in father's footsteps
Runcorn Linnets have added another of our pre-season trialists to the squad for 2020-21 by signing Tom Ruffer.
Joining the summer influx of promising young talent coming into the club, Tom might be a new face but his name is very familiar to long-standing Linnets fans.
He is the son of ex-Runcorn AFC centre back Carl Ruffer, who captained the former club with distinction in the late 1990s.
In contrast to his dad, Tom's focus is very much on attack.
He previously starred as a regular marksman in the successful Youth side at Chester FC.
Welcome to the Linnets, Tom!
06 Sep 2020 : Trust membership is available after revamp
The 2020-21 Trust Membership year runs from September 1st 2020 to August 31st 2021.
Membership is now open to supporters.
Due to coronavirus considerations, we would prefer and encourage online applications and you can renew or join HERE.
Those who do not have internet access (or a friend/family member to help them) are asked to complete the traditional application form and post it to Trust Secretary, Runcorn Linnets FC, Millbank Linnets Stadium, Stockham Lane, Runcorn, Cheshire, WA7 6GJ - enclosing a cheque payable to Runcorn Linnets FC (or a postal order) for the relevant sum.
Sealed envelopes containing the completed application form with cash (notes only), cheque payable to Runcorn Linnets FC or postal order can be handed in on first team match days at the bar or turnstile.
Please write 'Membership' in the top left corner of the sealed envelope. Please do not send cash through the post.
Following a review of the membership structure, led by feedback invited from members in the Summer Newsletter, we are making a few changes.
The overwhelming response from members was they would like more regular communication and a greater involvement generally.
We have introduced extra benefits below for the 2020-21 membership year and will continue to review these throughout the 12 months as we look to grow the trust membership.
As always, please don't be shy with your feedback.
Membership benefits for the 2020-21 year include:
1) Priority Matchday Tickets while any Covid-19 related restrictions are imposed on attendance at games.
2) The reinstatement of Trust Board meeting minutes in the Trust Members forum on our club website (subject to privacy and confidentiality restrictions).
3) A quarterly Members Newsletter similar to the one issued in the summer.
4) A free, quarterly Trust members draw to win a £10 voucher to spend in the new club shop.
5) A vote towards a new Owners' Player of the Year award to be presented at the end-of-season Awards Evening.
6) An informal annual Trust Members get together, likely to be in July, to provide a general club update through a board/manager Q&A session
7) Member discounts when purchasing goods at some of our sponsors (Members will be advised of sponsors signing up to the scheme).
Since the Linnets Independent Supporters Trust was remodelled (when we formed fans-owned club Runcorn Linnets, as the successor to Runcorn AFC), we have kept membership fees unchanged.
However, our running costs have obviously increased since 2006!
Again, feedback showed many members agreed a price increase was probably long overdue, particularly if the benefits of being a member were increased.
The new membership fee is £10.
Trust members (including all Trust Board members) each hold one share and receive one vote in Trust Board elections and other members' polls at general meetings. So we felt that every member, as a part owner/shareholder, should pay the same. There are therefore no concessions.
Another aspect that has been reviewed is our family and junior memberships.
Take-up on these has always been very low, and it was felt that having junior Trust members, who have no voting rights, is something that can be improved upon.
It has, therefore, been decided to end the family membership option and introduce individual Junior Linnets Membership with various exclusive benefits.
More details on this new scheme will be revealed shortly!
As explained in the Summer Newsletter, the need as much electronic communication as possible is more important than ever in these unusual times.
Contact by post is costly, time consuming and can be affected by delays so please try to provide an eMail address so you receive all Trust-related news and updates.
Obviously, however, we will still provide a postal service to send more important documents, including AGM details, to those who do not have access to an eMail account.

04 Sep 2020 : Runcorn Linnets add old boy Ryan Neild to new recruits
Goalkeeper Ryan Neild has joined Runcorn Linnets for a second time.
He briefly played for the club in 2016 and is now added the list of new signings at The Millbank after doing well in pre-season.
Ryan, although still only in his mid 20s, has a lot of experience of football in Merseyside, Cheshire and North Wales.
He has previously served Witton Albion, Northwich Victoria and Widnes.
The Warrington-born shotstopper started out as a Chester FC Youth and has since also played for AFC Liverpool, Airbus UK and FC Nomads of Connah's Quay.
Welcome back to Runcorn Linnets, Ryan.
