08 Feb 2020 : Cheers as Ally Brown is named our Bowland Brewery Player of the Month

Our first Bowland Brewery Player of the Month award of 2020 goes to Ally Brown.

Half of a strong full back partnership with Louis Corrigan, Ally performed with typical consistency in January.

Ally's speed, energy and workrate are always noticeable both when joining in attacks with his overlapping runs to create chances or thwarting opposition offensive play.

The maiden month of the decade saw him rewarded with a goal, our second of the 2-1 MLS victory against Ossett United - getting on the end of Paul Shanley's crose-cum-shot to find the net for the first time in Linnets colours.

The breakthrough came in his 39th game - Ally's is edging ever  closer to the first anniversary of his Runcorn debut (which was on March 2nd last year).

Ally starred in all four matches during January - he's only missed a couple all season - and after having chance to settle in at the end of the 2018-19 campaign, we are seeing the best of him.

Well done, Ally - keep up the good work!

The award was presented at today's game against Pickering by Pete Urquhart, who was matchball sponsor as a surprise from his family for his 40th birthday.

07 Feb 2020 : Charity collection at Pickering game in memory of Jordan Sinnott

We will be holding a bucket collection at this Saturday's home match against Pickering Town for the Jordan Sinnott Appeal.

Money donated will be sent to Jordan's family who are raising funds for charity in memory of the player from fellow Northern Premier League club, Matlock Town.

Jordan, who joined Matlock on loan from Alfreton Town, was found unconscious in the centre of Retford, Nottinghamshire, the Saturday before last and died in hospital that evening.

Runcorn Linnets are among the many football clubs paying tribute to Jordan by sending a team shirt bearing his surname and the number 25 (his age) for display at the player's funeral.

All shirts are to be donated to Sport Relief.

Josh Christian, a Trust Board member at Runcorn Linnets said: "Everyone in the football community has been saddened by the news of Jordan's passing and it's been heartwarming to see non league and indeed the football world come together in tribute.

"I'm proud Runcorn Linnets can play a small part in remembering Jordan Sinnott."

06 Feb 2020 : JEM Recycling donate portable building for club to refurbish

We have taken delivery today of a portable building, courtesy of our great friends, JEM Recycling.

It needs some TLC inside and out but it's structurally sound, partly fitted out and deceptively spacious.

Our feeling is that with a few willing hands, the building can be successfully transformed fairly quickly into a very useful facility.

The initial idea is creating extra office space, storage and a club shop but we are exploring all possibilities.

Phil Robinson, MD  of JEM Recycling said: "We are really happy we could help with this addition to the club.

"If it helps raise more funds and the profile of the club then that would be fantastic."

Our thanks to Phil and JEM Recycling and also to Paul Tandy and Alan Spendlove for overseeing the installation of the new arrival.
