13 May 2023 : Sam Heathcote departs after outstanding season

Sam Heathcote is heading out of APEC Taxis Stadium after an impressive season with Runcorn Linnets.

His final appearance as a Linnet cane at last night's club awards evening,

Sam was among the standout performers in 2022-23, playing more games in the Yellow & Green than any of his team-mates.

He is a big loss both to the team and the club but we are very grateful to Sam for his service and the way he has conducted himself during his time with us.

Good luck, Sam. We're sure that our paths will cross again some time in the future!

13 May 2023 : Thanks and good luck to Raheem Hanley

St Kitts & Nevis international Raheem Hanley is leaving Linnets for pastures new.

Announcing his departure on twitter, the winger said: "We have come to the end of a chapter…I just want to say thank you to @RuncornLinnets I had real fun there the last few months, I also wanna say a specially thank you to all the fans for the personal love and support! love all y'all! Good luck next season ❤️🔰🇰🇳".

We thank Raheem for all of his efforts in a Linnets shirt and wish him every success with whatever comes next.

12 May 2023 : Awards are in the safe keeping of Danny Taberner

The Jimmy Lightfoot Trophy for Supporters Club Player of the Year is in safe hands.

It was one of three awards collected by goalkeeper Danny Taberner (picured) at Runcorn Linnets' first-team Presentation Night in the MDB Gas Clubhouse at APEC Taxis Stadium.

After an outstanding campaign, Tabs also won the the Phil Tyler Trophy for Young Supporters Player of the Year. Both these trophies are presented in memory of former Supporters Club stalwarts.

The 'keeper completed a rare hat-trick by landing the Manager's Player of the Season accolade, this being named after the late Runcorn AFC secretary/president, George Worrall.

The result of the Players' Player vote is always eagerly awaited with midfielder Lewis Doyle being the choice of his peers.

Lewis scored in both rounds of the end-of-season play-offs after showing consistently high levels of performance, and great versatility over the campaign.

Runcorn Linnets club president Alan Jones handed his Leading Goalscorer prize to player-assistant manager Jamie Rainford.

Ryan Brooke took Goal of the Season honours for his memorable free-kick in the landmark league win at home to eventual champions, Macclesfield.

Brooky picked up The Bettley Trophy, presented in memory of long-time Linnets fans Joan and Wilf Bettley.

A new award this year, for Young Volunteer of the Year, went to Dan Jago while club chairman Pete Cartledge's tireless work and boundless enthusiasm were poignantly recognised. He was named the inaugural winner of the Lee Chesterson Trophy, a memorial to his great friend and fellow Linnets fan.

One of the more well-established awards is the Noel Bell Trophy for club service.

Noel was a lifelong Linnets fan who served as Runcorn Supporters Club chairman.

His widow Sue, the organisation's secretary, awarded the trophy to Hedley Edwards, a former vice-chairman of Runcorn Linnets and founder Trust Member, who recently stepped down as a director.

Hedley had also been an official of the predecessor club and his dedication was also rewarded with a special club award for outstanding long service.

12 May 2023 : Decision made on Under 18s entry as 2023-24 admission and season-ticket prices are announced

Matchday admission and season-ticket prices have been set for the 2023-24 first-team season in the Pitching In Northern Premier League West Division.

Adult admission at the turnstile is unchanged at £10, as is the concessionary rate of £7, covering senior fans (aged 65 and over) and 18-22 year olds in full-time education.

After lengthy discussion at the club's 2022 Annual General Meeting and a subsequent poll of Trust members, we will be introducing a £2 charge for Under 18s entry to each league match.

But Runcorn Linnets junior players will continue to receive free admission.

Chairman Peter Cartledge said: "From informal debate at December's AGM, it was clear that there was an overwhelming feeling among the members present that free U18s admission was not prudent and that we should implement a charge.

"The Board promised to consider this and earlier this week, we invited our members to vote on the matter.

"Introducing a £2 charge was supported by the vast majority with the option to still allow free admission to our junior players drawing the largest number of votes.

"Being ever mindful of the cost-of-living crisis and financial pressures on families, we have kept adult and senior admission at last season's prices, although our operating costs continue to rise.

"We are very grateful for the level of support we receive and look forward to seeing all fans back at APEC Taxis Stadium next season."

The chairman added: 'We would also encourage those who have never been to a Linnets game to give it a try as a very cost-effective way to enjoy live football.

"Many of those who have done this over the last few seasons have become regular fans.

"The more support we can attract, the more successful we will become."
